Not gonna make it...

Blogger: Johanna
Status: 22/30 (BOO!)

I don't know what happened. I was doing so well. Then baby got sick, and I got sick, and daylight savings time went away so it got dark early. So many excuses. This weekend I was tempted to just be lazy. No one had planned any workouts, and it would have been easy to just sit around, but I didn't. I knew there was no way I'd get in my 30 before turkey, but I decided that didn't give me a pass. Yesterday Nate and I walked to our errands. Today, I got on the treadmill, and when I couldn't hear the TV I rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes. I need to remind myself that I'm not trying to work out 3 times a week for some challenge, but because I need to do it to stay sane. Working out is my therapy, and if I don't do it, I'm not as good of a friend, mom, employee, or person.

So I'm not going to make it. I've got 22 down and only 4 days left (assuming I can count Thanksgiving). I've got yoga planned for Tuesday, and a run on Thursday, and that's it. But I didn't just give up when I had a couple of bad weeks, and that's good for me.

Dori and Kelly, you guys rock. Dori, I know you haven't made it yet, but I know you, and you are so close that you'll break down the doors of Core Power to get your last classes in if you have too. Kelly, I can't believe you've been candy free for so long.

I hope we do this again. Next time I'm going to work out, and try saying "no". Those two things are the biggest contributors to stress in my life, and even if I don't make the next challenge either, just being conscious that I need to focus on those two areas of my life helps.

Happy Turkey Week!

The Home Stretch

Blogger: Dori
Status: 25/30

Including today we have 10 days until the 26th which is the day before Thanksgiving. I am at 25 classes so going to yoga 5 more times should not be an issue however I am a little worried that my schedule is going to be crazy and something is not going to work out. Today, I knew that going during lunch or after work woudl be impossible so I FINALLY managed to get out of bed and make it to the 6AM class. It is amazing how different your body is at 6AM vs noon - I felt like an old woman for many poses and towards the end I felt completly nausous. It is so nice to be done for the day I must say. I am going to try and do it again tomorrow!

If you have not started - you won't make your goal. If you are at 20 - you need to work out every day. If you are below that - you are going to have to do 2-a-days... ng :)

PS Hi Kelly! Note to self, the next time I do a challenge, I need to make it a little harder for my OCD friend Kelly to challenge herself. She says that it was hard but now I know why she is a toothpick :)

Candy Schmandy

Blogger: Kelly
Goal: Done - No candy for 30 consecutive days - and counting

Okay . . . so my goal in theory seems very easy - do not eat candy. I did not even put any regulations on other sweets (ie. ice cream, cake, donuts, etc.) so you would think it should be even easier . . . I have to admit - it was much harder than I anticipated. I was actually telling Aaron this weekend that I had made it at least 40 days without any candy, haven't had a piece since the Sour Patch Kids at the last Board Meeting, and he asked if it was actually hard and giving me a hard time if you are not gonna eat it, just don't eat it. Now if you do not all know this is a guy that can have a bar of chocolate and just eat a square every 2, 3, 4, 8, 10 days . . . that is definitely not me - I would have great intentions but 1 square would become 2 squares would become the whole bar. As I have stated before in this blog candy is just a sort of easy grab for me . . . I do not think anything of grabbing 5 miniature Hershey's and that was what was the difficult part - being conscious of that. I actually caught myself a few times walking out of the office and grabbing a Laffy Taffy and actually having to put it back. I am pretty sure I cannot go my whole life without ever eating another piece of candy but I am liking the run so far. As for the cards . . . I have 5 done . . . that means a helluva lot of writing within the next few days. SO YES, only 1 of my challenges is done. Will keep you posted on the cards next week.

BTW: Dori and Johanna . . . congrats - you both are doing awesome!!! I am not sure where everyone else is so this is out to you :)

In the past week-ish I made it to yoga on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I have never been to yoga that many times in my life in a week. I feel great. I am getting stronger and really don't feel like a huge huffalump which is nice.

I am going to try and go Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week and then I am off to Vegas yippeeeee.

We are in the home streatch - only 23 days left!

Dori and Johanna are TIED

Dori and I are neck and neck in the turkey competition. Wait...that doesn't sound right at all.

I wish I would have kept tracking both of my ideas, because I think I'm doing pretty well saying "no". But just being aware of it as a goal helps.

What are we going to use as our next goal date after turkey day? New Years? We could have a pre-resolution resolution.

It's a goregous night out, so I hope I can get a walk in when I get home. I won't have many more of these opportunities, since daylight savings time goes away this weekend and it will get dark about 3:30. Yuck!

Dori, I've never heard of the yoga pose you have to do. I think your yoga instructor made up the "flying squirrel" to torture you.

1 out of 2 goals isn't too bad

So I knew that the no tv watching on a night where it was an option to choose not to watch tv was going to be a stretch but it is officially impossible at this point. Since I only logged 2 nights of this, I would have to not watch tv until Thanksgiving and that is JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! It was a pathetic effort on my behalf but whatever my yoga goal is moving along nicely. I need to keep on point or else I will be doing 2-a-days at the end of November and I don't want that!!!

I have added Geoff to our tracker since he is logging his workouts. He is at 13 right now. I hope he makes it!

Nearly half way there!

First of all, yes Johanna you get to count 2 workouts for Sunday! It was not a triathlon so they are competely separate events. Nice work.

I am at 14 out of 30 yoga classes. I am really starting to notice my arms toning up which is fantastic. Yesterday we did flying squirrel and lordy that was nearly impossible for me. I wonder if the people in yoga class look at my gut that is getting bigger and wonder what my problem is? It will be nice when you can tell that I am actually pregnant and not just getting a muffin top! I have had to retire a few of my yoga tops now... it was getting ugly.

I am really trying to run twice a week and do yoga at a minimum 3 days a week. Looking at my calendar of classes that I think I will make it to I have 16 scheduled so there is NO missing and i need to get a few extras in so I can have some cushion! I keep setting my alarm clock for 5:30 to try and make it to the 6AM class but so far no luck! I just need to make it once and I am sure it will be easier to do.

How long has it been now Johanna since the other girls have even checked this????
