Dori and I are neck and neck in the turkey competition. Wait...that doesn't sound right at all.
I wish I would have kept tracking both of my ideas, because I think I'm doing pretty well saying "no". But just being aware of it as a goal helps.
What are we going to use as our next goal date after turkey day? New Years? We could have a pre-resolution resolution.
It's a goregous night out, so I hope I can get a walk in when I get home. I won't have many more of these opportunities, since daylight savings time goes away this weekend and it will get dark about 3:30. Yuck!
Dori, I've never heard of the yoga pose you have to do. I think your yoga instructor made up the "flying squirrel" to torture you.

1 out of 2 goals isn't too bad

So I knew that the no tv watching on a night where it was an option to choose not to watch tv was going to be a stretch but it is officially impossible at this point. Since I only logged 2 nights of this, I would have to not watch tv until Thanksgiving and that is JUST NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! It was a pathetic effort on my behalf but whatever my yoga goal is moving along nicely. I need to keep on point or else I will be doing 2-a-days at the end of November and I don't want that!!!
I have added Geoff to our tracker since he is logging his workouts. He is at 13 right now. I hope he makes it!

First of all, yes Johanna you get to count 2 workouts for Sunday! It was not a triathlon so they are competely separate events. Nice work.
I am at 14 out of 30 yoga classes. I am really starting to notice my arms toning up which is fantastic. Yesterday we did flying squirrel and lordy that was nearly impossible for me. I wonder if the people in yoga class look at my gut that is getting bigger and wonder what my problem is? It will be nice when you can tell that I am actually pregnant and not just getting a muffin top! I have had to retire a few of my yoga tops now... it was getting ugly.
I am really trying to run twice a week and do yoga at a minimum 3 days a week. Looking at my calendar of classes that I think I will make it to I have 16 scheduled so there is NO missing and i need to get a few extras in so I can have some cushion! I keep setting my alarm clock for 5:30 to try and make it to the 6AM class but so far no luck! I just need to make it once and I am sure it will be easier to do.
How long has it been now Johanna since the other girls have even checked this????

16 workouts down (can I count 17???)
Yesterday was a big workout day for me. I ran 5 miles with Dori and Rachel in the morning, and then walked to and from the DU game with Nate and Erica. So I actually did TWO workouts yesterday. Do I get to count each workout, or do I just count it as a day I worked out? I don't know what the actual wording of my challenge is. Did I say I would work out 30 times, or 30 days? Crud. Right now it's just counting as 1 workout.
On the downside, I got on my scale this morning and I'm back up the 2 lbs I thought I lost. So I have 3 weeks to lose 5 lbs. This is because my OB/GYN told me that if I didn't lose all my baby weight in 6 months, I never would.
I've found this coat I've been coveting. (Yes, I know I have a coat problem) I think it will be my reward for completing my 30 until turkey challenge. Yay!
Dori, hope you are enjoying the blog! ;)

12 Om's Down... 18 to Go

Yoga was the hardest for me today then it has been in the past month and a half. I am not sure if the room was really hot or what but I felt nauseous after class and had to chill out in childs pose a couple of times. I feel fantastic now so it was worth it. I am chalking it up to an exhausting work week.
Scream Scram Tomorrow - Johanna I will let you know tomorrow if we are in because I have to take dinner over to a neighbors house tomorrow night. I am planning on cooking everything tonight so that I can take it whenever tomorrow but you never know what will happen.
I think I am going to run with Rach on Saturday morning because Sunday is not good for me. Let's plan something for next week for sure.
Wonder how long it will take any of the other girls to read all our posts? :)

Hi Dori!
I just called Runner's Roost, and registration for Scream Scram is open until tomorrow at noon. I'm going to head over after work and register. I'd love it if we could do it with our little bees, although I'm not sure how the costumes will work in a stroller.
If you make your 30 yoga sessions you will officially be my hero. That's hardcore! I missed my class last night because of work. Boo!

Well I know now if I want to have a blog buddy that Johanna will be my first pick! I was going to update the blog several times but since no one else did it I didn't want to look like a complete nerd so I never did. I was just WAITING for someone else to go first!
Well I have had a major slowdown on the yoga achievement but that is GOING TO CHANGE! I have 11 out of 30 so 19 left to go. In the spreadsheet I colored in days that I am planning on going to class and right now there are only 19 colored in! that means I can not miss one more class. Work is crazy right now so I am thinknig I need to start going to at least one 6AM class per week to get me to my goal.
I also need to start running once during the week and once on weekends so I can do the winter running series and run the whole thing (assuming baby lets me). After the half marathon I was looking at my legs and am completely repulsed by how they have turned into complete cottage cheese... I am going for a major body blast after this baby comes and I don't want it to get worse in the meantime.
Not sure doing a full marathon with a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old is realistic but I think the half definately is. I absolutely loved the race and so I am in for something just not sure what.
Well since Johanna is the only one that is reading this - HI JO PANTS and let's plan a run for this weekend.... ohoh oh Scream Scram on Friday??? :)

Look how lame our blog is
Blogger: Johanna
Turkey count: 14/30
So I just updated the spreadsheet with my workouts from last week, and thought I'd check out the blog to see how it was doing. Given everything I know is going on in everyone's life, I'm not surprised to see the blog isn't very populated over the last few weeks.
All in all, I'm doing well. I'm on pace for still working out 3 times a week and meeting my challenge. I think if I make it I will buy myself the new coat from Sundance I've been coveting. Nothing like putting a little reward on top of a goal I'm doing well with. Also, I got on the scale today and now only have 3.2 lbs to lose before I'm back to pre-Erica weight. My goal was to lose it all in 6 months, and I've got 3 weeks to do it. That should give me even more incentive to keep working out. (Of course I'd like to lose 7 more after that, but one step at a time!)
Other goals I want to work on: doing the winter race series, actually finishing a half marathon in the spring, and Kristen threw out the idea of doing the whole Denver marathon next October. I wonder if I could get my life organized enough to pull that off. It's worth a thought as a stretch goal...
Hope everyone is doing well, or at least hanging in there.

18 Days and Counting . . . oh yeah, and only 2
Blogger: Kelly
Date: 10/06/08
Stats:
18/30 No Candy
2/30 Personal Communications (ie. Cards)
As you can see from the above I am doing very well on the first and sub-par, some might even say really bad, on the second. So I decided to really try and go 30 days straight without any candy and then with the darn Sour Patch Kids at the Board Meeting I felt I was never gonna make it . . . but decided to try again and instead of going 30 days over the course with no candy I was going to try to go 30 days straight with no candy. If there is one thing I have learned about this - I eat candy completely without thinking . . . there have been so many days that I walk by the front desk or by someones office and pick up a piece and honestly almost start unwrapping it and catch myself. Though I am very certain that I cannot go the rest of my life without candy I hope that the 30 Until Turkey will at least have me think about what I am eating. I am recommitting to the personal communication tonight - I have bought a few that I have been meaning to fill out and send but I have been slacking . . . I will work on those tonight and hopefully I will have a better update by the end of the week.

losing count!
hey ladies...my new challenge is keeping count of what I have actually done on top of the actual blogging. I suck. First off I love Barb's new challenge of calling her mom and sister, I think that is great. This will give you good karma! And Kelly you are a crack up with those sour patch kids, they are the death of me. Overall I think everyone is really doing a good job! At least we are talking about it and making the blog work, right?? We have plenty of time to go.
I have no idea what I have actually done at this point. My 2 challenges that I am working on as you know are the swimming and the cooking at home. Best guess as of today is 8 swims down and probably 5 times cooking at home with leftovers not counting. I have 3 swims planned for tihs week and 2 meals for sure. We'll see what happens. I will mark them in Johanna's handy spreadsheet.
Keep up the good work ladies!

52 Days Left!

Well we have 52 days left to meet our goals. I have given up my goal of choosing not to watch tv 30 nights... not going to happen I can tell you that right now! I have 8 yoga classes down and 22 to go! I am loving it. I really hope to get there today to start my week off right. I have found that doing yoga and running twice a week has really helped me to keep a clear and focused head and I eat better. I really hope this will help me keep this habit after.
How are the rest of you ladies doing? Johanna has posted this slick spreadsheet for you to post your progress on so check it out...

Closing Out Week 3? 4?
Blogger: Barb
Status: Workouts 6/30 Calls 4/30
Hi Girls! I know, it's been a really long time since I wrote on the blog. Like Alden, I think part of my challenge is going to be writing consistently here. It's a very good challenge though - because it keeps me accountable. I've actually avoided this site all week, because I didn't want to see how well everyone had progressed while I was standing still on my goals. Terrible, I know....let's just say I had a rough week (for no particular reason!).
Even so, I'm here - I'm posting - and I have a new challenge to add for myself! As you can see from my "status" above, I've added something new. (Dori - I stole the "status" thing from your recent post, very helpful!). Anyway, about my new challenge - my sister and mom visited LA a few weekends ago and we had a great time. Of course, every visit with my family has it's share of drama and frustration for me, but overall...we really did have fun. We spent the entire weekend shopping for wedding dresses and talking about all-things-wedding. Once the weekend ended, I decided that I really needed to do a better job of keeping in touch with my family. I love them so much, yet I find that a week or two can go by and I haven't talked to them. My sister is working so hard at her job, she just started her master's degree part-time, and she's helping plan her best friend's wedding along with mine. She's the type of girl who gets stressed out with just ONE of those items, so with all of them combined - I think she really needs support. As for my mom, I just know it would make her happy to get a call from me more often. She doesn't like to bother me since she thinks I'm always busy with work - so I want to reach out to her more. So, the challenge is that I will call my mom/sis 30 times before Thanksgiving. It doesn't count if they call me. Four down, 26 to go!
Workouts - well. The status says it all. I've only worked out 6 times so far. Seriously - what is my problem! Miles and I attended a new joiner meeting for the Pasadena Tri Club last night. It kinda motivated me to get back in to the sport - and thoroughly annoyed me in many many ways. We are going to join though - and hopefully meet fun people to workout with!!! Meanwhile, I will really really try to do something active both Saturday and Sunday of this week. Really....what does it take to motivate me? I haven't figured it out yet.
